Driving theory test 2022 information-uk driving theory test help. 

The driving uk theory test is taken on a computer at the official DVSA test centre of your choice.

There are two parts to the driving uk theory test.


Part 1 of the driving uk theory test is multiple choice questions and part 2 of the driving uk theory test is hazard perception.


For the multiple choice questions you will have 57 minutes to answer 50 multiple choice questions. You can be asked question from 14 categories

How many questions do you need to answer to pass theory test?

To pass your theory test you must get 43 out of 50 correct of the multi choice questions.

What is the pass mark for the hazard perception?

To pass the hazard perception part of the driving theory test you must score at least 44 out of 75.

How many videos are in the hazard perception test?

You will be shown 14 video clips containing everyday road scenes. Each clip contains at least one developing hazard and one of the clips will contain two developing hazards. To get a high score on your hazard perception you will need to click as soon as you see a hazard is starting to develop.

a developing hazard is something that will make you change speed or direction when driving.

You can score up to 5 points for each developing hazard.


What happens if I pass my theory test but fail my hazard perception test?

If you only pass one part of the theory test and fail the other part, you will have to retake the entire theory test again as you can only pass your theory test by passing both parts of the test.

Do you get theory test results straight away?

You will get your theory test results shortly after you have finished your theory test, you will receive your theory test  results at the theory test centre.If you pass you will get a letter to say congratulations you have passed your theory test and there will be a printed certificate number on the paper,you will need to keep this certificate number safe as you will need this to book your practical driving test.

How long is the theory uk?

You have 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete both parts of the uk driving theory test.

You will need to bring your provisional license otherwise you will not be able to take your theory test.
